Remembrance

It is my sad duty to inform you that the former teacher at Culham, Mr John Shenton died on 30th September 2016. John originated from Paisley, Scotland and trained and worked as a primary and EAL specialist teacher. John was seconded to the European Schools in 2004 and spent five years at Brussels II. He transferred to Culham in 2009 and left at the end of his secondment in 2013. He was a teacher of English L2 and many of our upper school students were taught by him. After leaving Culham, he studied for a Master’s degree at University College London and recently was working for the British Council in Hong Kong.

John was a good colleague and tremendously interesting to talk to; he had a wry sense of humour and had a great rapport with his students.  He was very proud of his Scottish roots and also very proud of his children, Dorothy and Peter. Dorothy obtained her European Baccalaureate in 2013 at Culham.

His funeral will take place later this month in Cottingham, near Hull.   We are planning to open a book of remembrance to send to his family. The book will be available for one week from Wednesday 12 October in the library for any students who would like to add a condolence. Parents can also come to reception to sign the book.

regards

Lynn Wood
