University of Luxembourg and European Schools of Kirchberg and Mamer suspend classes between Monday 16 March until 29 March.

The University remains closed until further notice, European Schools I and II suspend classes between Monday 16 March until 29 March.

As a preventive measure, the

University of Luxembourg

has cancelled all classes until further notice as of Friday 13 March, it announced in an email on Thursday. Web-based learning services are currently being set up so students and staff can continue their work remotely.

Meanwhile, also on Thursday afternoon, parents of pupils at the

European Schools

were informed about the new measure from the Secretary General of the European Schools concerning the situation regarding COVID-19.

As a precautionary measure and until further notice, pupils will be exempted from compulsory regular attendance and all classes will be suspended at the European Schools of Kirchberg and Mamer, from Monday 16 March until 29 March.

Children are urged to go to school on Friday 13 March to prepare themselves for distance learning and exchange information with teachers. If they are unable to do so, however, the school will not consider this as an unjustified absence.

Earlier on Thursday the UBI business school in Wiltz

confirmed that the school will be closed

until mid-April.

Prime Minister Xavier Bettel is

holding a press conference

at 6pm on Thursday afternoon and is expected to give more information on matters of education.
