A warm thank you to all who attended the debate for “The Future of Young Europeans” as part of the European Elections both in person and online.
This coming European Election is of course a very special one, the first where citizens of several member states will be able to vote from age 16. Our European democracy is getting younger, and as Alumni Europae, we are delighted to have the opportunity to provide a platform for debate on this very important topic, through this first successful elections event. 🇪🇺 News Release 🇪🇺 Political Debate: The Future for Europeans. An event by Alumni Europae ASBL as part of the European Elections 2024.
Alumni Europae ASBL proudly announces the participation of Sophie in 't Veld in our upcoming Political Debate, a significant event in the lead-up to the European Elections 2024.
Sophie in 't Veld is a Dutch politician of the Volt party, and formerly of the D66 party. As a D66 member, she was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2004, and reelected in 2009, 2014 and 2019. She was her party's top candidate for the three elections and has been its leader in the European Parliament since her first election. She left D66 and joined Volt in 2023. She is a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs as well as the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China. Sophie studied history at Leiden University in the Netherlands.

Chelsea Nshuti‘ with her own words:
‚I am Chelsea Nshuti, young and passionate about politics. When I was 18 I ran for the local elections for the first time and I got elected in the city council of Lummen. I always made sure to respect other young, engaged voices of our society.
Currently I am finishing my Master International Politics at KU Leuven. The passion for politics is not limited to the local level.
This year I am running for the European elections as the youngest candidate representing cd&v. This governance level may sometimes look the furthest away for young people so it will be challenging to convince them of the European future we are all part of. I am convinced I'm the right woman in place this time to engage other young people to use their voices!‘
